Welcome to Vinton Elementary!
A new school year brings many opportunities, changes, and challenges, but EXCITEMENT! We look forward to new opportunities to grow and learn together as a school community! Vinton Elementary has a student population of approximately 350 PreK-5th grade students. Our teachers and classrooms have the knowledge and tools to provide a top-notch education that includes technologies to keep up with the ever-changing advancements. We have one-to-one Chromebook devices in grades K-5 and TeachSmart technology in PreK. We have various online programs including Renaissance/Accelerated Reader and ALEKS.
Vinton Elementary has an AMAZING teaching staff who are highly trained and motivated to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of each child. Our support staff compliments to provide additional support to our students, school, and community.
We are using the Leader in Me and PBIS to help teach our students to be good community members. This framework helps teach 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and helps create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Areas of emphasis include LEADERSHIP, RESPONSIBILITY, COMMUNICATION, INITIATIVE, SELF DIRECTION, and TEAMWORK!! We are SO excited to see our students LEAD and SUCCEED!!
We use the Science of Reading as a framework to teach reading and writing skills to our students. The mathematics curriculum has changed and students are focusing on problem-solving and hands-on learning. We are excited to continue to see growth with our students in reading and math!
I invite you to partner with us by joining our PTO, attending special events, and volunteering in our school! I look forward to working with you this school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please keep in touch and share any ideas. We look forward to having you as part of our TEAM!!
